The Big Little Sister - one month old

Can't believe Juliet is one month old already!
She has grown and changed so much in the last few weeks, but it also feels like we brought her home from the hospital yesterday.

Juliet could not be more different than Laila...she was out of newborn diapers after one week (Laila was in them for at least a month if not more), she is already grown out of her newborn sleepers and fully in 3 month ones (Laila wasn't in 3 month clothes until she was 3 months), she spits up all the time (Laila never did), she has hers days and nights switched around so she sleeps most of the day and doesn't sleep for very long stretches at night, and is up and at 'em around 5am (Laila was sleeping rather long stretches pretty early on), she LOVES being on her tummy and has a very strong neck/head (Laila HATED tummy time), and she HATES being swaddled (Laila was swaddled at night until she was 4 months).  She weighs around 10 pounds now (Laila weighed 10 pounds at 6 weeks).
Juliet continues to nurse really well and often, and has some pretty content awake time. She continues to get toted around everywhere we go and we haven't really stopped "going" since she's been born. She's had lots of visitors and will continue to do so for the next month or so. She's becoming more and more aware every day and we love her so much! She has been loving her time with her Nana and just had a fun weekend with her Auntie Coco.
Laila continues to love on Juliet and has been a really awesome big sister.  She is always concerned when she cries and says, "kiss her, kiss her" and often tries to give her a pacifier.  She likes to rock her when she's in the swing or rocker seat, and is always alerting us as to whether Juliet is awake or asleep. She will say "Baby Juliet's awake!" in an adorable sing-song voice. She LOVES coming into our room in the morning to give baby Juju kisses and say good morning, and she will be a good helper and throw away dirty diapers when I ask her to. We have a couple of matching outfits and Laila loves it when she is "matchy matchy" with Juliet.  She also loves it if I carry both of them at the same time. She thinks it is so great.  Laila's vocabulary continues to grow by the day. I don't think there is a word she doesn't know or can't say.  She is pretty much speaking in full sentences now and is singing full lines to songs in a singing tone. She is such a funny girl.
Last week Collin and I did something I never would have done with Laila, which was to go out on a date! Juliet was 3.5 weeks old and Collin got an invitation to an event with the new owners of the Dodgers up in Bel Air. I have never been to a work event with him and I thought it would be fun to be able to attend with him, so I pumped over the course of the week to get enough milk for Juliet, stressed about leaving her, made sure she would take a bottle, felt guilty about leaving her, and then finally left her in the care of my mom and sister for the evening.  I made them text me pictures of her every half an hour to keep me sane!  They did a great job, as did the baby, and Collin and I had an enjoyable evening out together sans children.

Juliet's 2 week well check

At 2 weeks Juliet is:

8 lb 10 oz (75%)
21 3/4 in (99%)

She is generally a very content baby and is still sleeping most of the time.  She is nursing on demand, so basically every time she cries...although we did give in early with her on the pacifier. We did not give Laila a pacifier until she was a month old (and even then she was never very interested in it), but Juliet takes to it well and since she is a great nurser, we have not been too concerned. She was very content throughout her well check and is doing great - she has great neck control, is very strong and is all around a healthy girl.  She lost her cord stump on day 9 (Laila lost hers on day 6). Overall she's doing really well and we love her a whole lot!
