8 weeks

Baby #2 is 8 weeks along today. Had another appointment and got to see his/her heartbeat again and this time we got to listen to it. Baby's heart is beating at 177bpm.  It's amazing how much they grow every week too. You can definitely distinguish the baby's head and even some little arm buds.

Pretend City

Yesterday we went to a children's museum called Pretend City with DeeDee (Collin's mom) and our friends Jenn and Carter. It's a whole city set up in kids size. There was a library, a doctor's office, a dentist's office, a grocery store, police and fire stations, bank, post office, cafe, beach, construction site, theater, etc. Laila was much more interested than I even thought she would be. She and Carter had a lot of fun!

We had another checkup today and got to see our little baby's tiny heartbeat. There is nothing like sitting in the doctor's office and seeing that little flicker on the screen. We are so thankful to have reached this milestone in the pregnancy. I have been feeling well so far too...just more hungry and a little extra tired (not that I can do much about that these days!).


Laila is continuing to walk better and better every day, and is beginning to assert her independence in wanting to do so. Most of the time when I carry her now, she launches herself off of me in order to walk. Unfortunately she's not good at following directions yet, so she just wanders off exploring instead of following me. Going to the mall is very different now...it's hard to shop when you can't take your eyes off of your roaming child! Today, she decided to push her stroller around outside Nordstrom for about 15 minutes.

Coming May 7, 2012

 

We had our first checkup today and the doctor found one embryo growing in there, in just the spot it's supposed to be in. We were not able to hear the heartbeat yet, as I am only 5 weeks and 3 days along. Normally you can hear the heartbeat at 6 weeks, so we should be able to at our appointment next week. My official due date is May 7, 2012. It was great to see our next little peanut in there and we hope he/she keeps growing healthy and strong!

Sunglasses on a Sunny Day

Today we played out on the patio in the pool, with the hose, and with the sand and water table. Laila kept her sunglasses on the whole time (the first time this has happened...she usually rips them off immediately after we put them on her), and she wouldn't even let me take them off once she came in the house. She loves being outside because she gets to see lots of airplanes and helicopters that fly over the beach near our house.
