Fun with Photo Booth

So Laila was banging on my laptop this morning and accidentally opened up Photo Booth. We then had an impromptu photo shoot. She thought it was quite funny.

A Bathtime Story

Laila just loves bathtime.

Fun in the Sun with Mama and Dada

Today was a gorgeous 80 degree day and we took full advantage. We started off the morning with breakfast outside at iHop, then headed to the beach for a while and walked Laila down for her first experience with the ocean! She wasn't sure what to think the first time the waves rolled up over her feet, but then she seemed to like it. The water was pretty cold too and she didn't seem to mind. After that she played in her pool for a long time and then spent some time playing with Daddy and Chloe. We had a great day!

8 months and new tricks

My little buggy is 8 months old today.

in honor of this special day, I took as many pictures as I do on any other day.
(which is a lot. probably too many, since i never delete the bad ones, oh well)

But before I display the photo shoot, I must brag on her accomplishments
(i.e. document the tricks she's figured out totally on her own,
with no parental skill involved on our part whatsoever).

1. learned how to get into a sitting position from her tummy.
2. learned how to get on all fours and rock back and forth.
3. learned how to crawl. slowly but surely she is fully mobile now. ahh!
4. learned how to pull herself up onto the coffee table and ottoman.
5. learned how to make it really difficult for me to change her diapers, because the second she is put down on the changing table she gets a gigantic mischievous smile on her face and whips herself onto her stomach, gets on all fours and tries to crawl away! Have you ever tried putting a diaper on backwards? NOT EASY.
6. puts anything and everything she can find in her mouth.
7. is eating yogurt, chicken, yogurt melts, puffs, and banana, strawberry, and avocado pieces. She is great at chewing her food and has yet to have a choking incident. knock on wood.
8. likes finger foods and really wants to grab the bites herself rather than having me feed her. 
9. learned how to grab her sippy with both hands and tilts her head back to get the water.
10. sits in a high chair and the grocery cart when we go out to eat or shopping.

Laila's Auntie CoDi and Uncle Freddy came to visit for a long weekend and Laila loved having them here! Laila got lots of hugs and kisses as well as story time and play time with her auntie and uncle. We got lots of pictures, but here are just a few...

Easter Bunnies and Playdates

Today we went to South Coast Plaza to spend some time with friends and get some pictures with the cute Easter Bunny. Laila loves her little buddies Hayley, Adam, Carter and Kai! (Kai got there a little late so sadly he didn't make it in any of the photos...). We had a ton of fun catching up with one another, letting the kiddos climb all over each other, and have them meet the Easter Bunny!

Monkey

Laila is now officially a little monkey. She climbs all over you when you're sitting on the floor with her, pulls herself up on things, flips and wiggles and rolls all over. She is learning how to crawl and has taken her first few movements forward but she gets frustrated easily and hasn't really figured out that crawling will actually help her get things she wants. She continues to love to stand up, so most of the time if you try to plop her down somewhere she goes stiff and won't sit. We "walk" her all over the place but she is still very wobbly on her feet. I don't see her actually standing on her own or walking for a while.

The little girl can have quite an attitude and really shows her feelings when she wants to.

 She likes to eat anything and everything. She enjoys flipping toys upside-down and eating the bottoms of them.
