5 months!

Juliet is 5 months old today.
I feel like I just did her 4 month post (which I kind of did, since I did it late, but still...)

She spends most of her time on her tummy or standing.
She doesn't like to be in a sitting position at all right now.
She is starting to be aware of and reach for toys.

We have started her on solids because she was showing a very strong interest,
but have done so very infrequently and sporadically.
(P.S. any time I use the word "sporadically" I think about the movie Clueless)
She has had rice cereal, avocado, prunes, sweet potato and banana to date.
She really likes everything so far (rice cereal least, smart girl), and has done a great job of
eating the food and not pushing it out with her tongue.

I have run out of pajamas that match that they both fit in since Juliet is growing like a weed.
So this month their "matchy-matchy" picture is in diapers.

Juliet can no longer be left ANYWHERE alone. The girl is strong and cah-razy.
She pushes her legs straight up and would fly out the back of the rock-n-play if I didn't watch her,
and can arch or fling her way out of pretty much anything else.

Shows interest in holding and sucking on a sippy cup with water,
but doesn't so much like the water once she gets it out.

side sleeping
belly sleeping

We're doing really well with sleep training, although it took a little longer for her to get it than it did with Laila.  We were also a little more loose with training Juliet because we never wanted her to wake Laila across the hall.  Juliet now goes to bed around 6:45, occasionally wakes throughout the night (sometimes not even), but will settle herself back down very quickly (usually not even crying, just awake and re-adjusting), and then will sleep until anywhere between 4:30-6. I will feed her whenever she wakes up during that time and then she'll go back down until at least 7, sometimes closer to 8am, which was my original goal for her age. She has learned how to maneuver herself all over her crib and quickly switch positions from front to back, back to front, etc, as you can see from her varied sleeping positions above.

She continues to be a very joyful baby and smiles all the time. She STILL has yet to giggle for us! She makes the face like you think she'll giggle but just a little short cackle noise will come out. She'll get there. She definitely has discovered that she has a voice and squawks all of the time. She enjoys eating her feet and still likes her paci, but also sucks (or more chews on) her thumb occasionally. She is in mama mode right now and is happiest when I am holding her and notices if I leave her line of sight.  She loves Laila and smiles at her and always seems to be taking in whatever Laila is doing or saying. She always stops crying when Laila sings to her. Laila is always very concerned when Juliet cries and will go over to her, rub her back and say, "it's ok Juju". Laila has also gotten very good at giving Juliet her paci and seems to understand whether or not she actually wants it.

She is wearing 6 month clothes, 6-12 month sleepers and size 2 diapers. She grabs at anything and everything and brings it directly to her mouth. She likes to hip sit in my Beco carrier and sits in the "big girl" seat in the double BOB. Her feet hit flat on the floor now in her jumperoo and she can walk herself in circles in her entertainer (which keeps her busy in the morning sometimes while I get in a quick shower!). She stands up holding onto me when I put her clothes/pajamas on, which is nice but I also hate because it makes her seem too old to me! Time really is flying by with her and I really want it to slow down.

Live Like That

I heard this song on the radio the other day and the lyrics captured me.  I happened to have just pulled into a parking space, so I quickly "shazam-ed" it on my iPhone and found out it's called Live Like That by the Sidewalk Prophets.

I have been obsessed with it and meditating and praying over the lyrics of it ever since.  I really do want to "live like that" and be an example of doing so to my children, in hopes that they will do the same.  I hope sharing this can be a blessing and an encouragement to any and all who enjoy my blog. The lyrics and song are here:

Sometimes I think
What will people say of me
When I'm only just a memory
When I'm home where my soul belongs

Was I love
When no one else would show up
Was I Jesus to the least of us
Was my worship more than just a song

I want to live like that
And give it all I have
So that everything I say and do
Points to You

If love is who I am
Then this is where I'll stand
Recklessly abandoned
Never holding back

I want to live like that
I want to live like that

Am I proof
That You are who you say You are
That grace can really change a heart
Do I live like Your love is true

People pass
And even if they don't know my name
Is there evidence that I've been changed
When they see me, do they see You

I want to live like that
And give it all I have
So that everything I say and do
Points to You

If love is who I am
Then this is where I'll stand
Recklessly abandoned
Never holding back

I want to live like that
I want to live like that

I want to show the world the love You gave for me
I'm longing for the world to know the glory of the King

I want to live like that
And give it all I have
So that everything I say and do
Points to You

If love is who I am
Then this is where I'll stand
Recklessly abandoned
Never holding back

I want to live like that
I want to live like that

Disneyland

We became official Disneyland annual pass holders on Friday!
This has been Collin's dream since moving to SoCal and having kids.
Needless to say, I think he was the most excited of all of us.
We got there right at 10 when the park opened and made it until 4:30.
Both girls were total troupers in the 90 degree heat!
J spent most of the time in the bjorn and had 2 quick cat naps, and Laila
powered through without a nap. Both were exhausted and in bed by 7:00!
We're excited to go back again soon!

Bathtime

We tried bathing the girls together for the first time last night.
We didn't get many pictures because we were each manning a child,
but needless to say, it was pretty cute!

{excuse my legs/feet - I had to hold down the bumbo
because J wasn't heavy enough for it to sit on the bottom of the tub!}
{J hugging her big sis while L got a turn in the bumbo}

NH Photo Book

We took a 2 week trip to NH and I created a Shutterfly photo book of some of our pics.
You can see it here!
