Sick Little Bug

Laila got sick for the first time this past week. She had a tiny fever and was a little bit fussy for a few days back around Thanksgiving, but this was her first full-on sickness. She caught a cold on Tuesday and has been coughing and sneezing and crying ever since. It has been so sad to see her so miserable and only be able to do so much to comfort her. On top of her being sick, Collin also caught the cold and then proceeded to pull his hamstring playing tennis, so he's been another patient to take care of in the house. Now, it seems I am about two days behind them and have started to get sick as well. Ahhh!

 My poor babies.

But, the good news is that Laila's definitely on the mend today. This was our entertainment this morning:

7 Months

The Bug is 7 months old today.

We just can't believe she is 7 months old already.
She grows and changes so much every day it's really hard to keep track of all of the new things.

She is on a really good schedule now and is nursing 5 times a day, eating solids 2-3 times a day, taking 3 naps and sleeping 7 to 7 through the night. She has tried many different fruits and vegetables as well as brown rice cereal, multi grain cereal and oatmeal. She had banana yogurt mixed with strawberries for the first time today. So far she has not disliked anything we've given her and is generally a very good eater. She is getting better every day with her sippy cup with water.

She is sitting up solidly and standing on her own for (very) short periods of time. She loves to be standing though so we are often helping her balance at her musical table. She has really learned how to bounce in her jumperoo now which brings her quite a bit of pleasure and she's learning that she can walk in circles in her entertainer. She will stay on her tummy for longer periods of time now and occasionally will get up onto all fours for a few seconds but hasn't show any signs of rocking or crawling quite yet. (Daddy is in more of a hurry than I am for her to crawl!)
She is very much a Mama's girl right now which Daddy doesn't like very much. She's fine with him if I am not around, but if Mama is in the room, she will cry if she's not with me. I secretly enjoyed this at first but now it's not as fun because she won't stay content with other people if I need to get things done.
She has started squealing and babbling quite a bit. She also loves to blow spit bubbles and stick out her tongue. Collin is working on Dada being her first word. We'll see. She has also developed a belly laugh that is to die for. Collin took video of her today while I was at the grocery store. Precious.
She continues to love the water. Bath time every other night is quite fun and she spent time in her little baby pool for the first time last week. We are going to start her on parent/child swimming lessons in May to really get her used to the water!

a song i am loving right now.

I have been listening to a lot of country music lately and love like crazy by Lee Brice has been playing often. I love the song and the lyrics so much, especially since it starts out with "they called them crazy when they started out, said seventeen's too young to know what love's about" and that is how old I was when I fell in love with Collin. The chorus has such a great and simple message about love, success and making your relationship work.

(a few weeks into dating...when I was 17...)

be a best friend
tell the truth
and overuse 'I Love You'
go to work
do your best
don't outsmart your common sense
never let your prayin' knees get lazy
and love like crazy

It's been over 10 years since then and I still love you like crazy babe.
Praying we make it to 58 years.
...and thanks for giving me this little mouth to feed.
Not sure if we'll go for 6 mouths to feed, but you never know!
