Baby Updates

Yesterday I had my 15 week checkup for baby #2 and all is well.  Baby's heartbeat sounded just right, although the nurse had a hard time finding it because the baby seemed to be quite active! As soon as she'd find it, the baby would move and she'd have to go searching again. All of the results from my blood work and tests from my last appointment came out fine...especially good to know I am not HIV positive nor do I have syphillis...I was worried about those ones :)

We're thrilled to have had another successful appointment and know that our baby is still in there growing away. I have been feeling pretty good every since I hit the 12 week mark, too. My only complaint would be general fatigue - but that's normal and it's not too bad.  I am trying to make more of an effort to get out for hour long walks every day to get in some sort of exercise. I think I am going to try to start up yoga again at the beginning of the year if I can find a class schedule that will work for me.

Today, I took Laila in for her 15 month well check.  She is currently 22 pounds (40%) and 32.5 inches (95%), so she continues to be long and lean, just like her mama was. She had to get 3 vaccinations which was hard but she took it like a champ and was rewarded with a sticker and a lollipop afterward.

Laila is at such a fun age and continues to be a joyful member of the family.  She is experimenting with her words a lot, although she is very selective about when she chooses to speak.  She currently says Mama, Dada, Nana, DeeDee, Baby, Boat, Ball, Ice, No, Up, Off, Down, Bubble, Elmo (sort-of...her own version of it which is hard to put on paper), Shoe, and probably a few more I am forgetting. She is a total sponge right now - soaking up every possible bit of information she can wrap her little head around. It's fun to watch her learn and to be a part of helping to teach her new things.

She continues to love music and currently her favorite is "This Little Light of Mine". She knows how to put her finger up like a light, covers it during the "hide it under a bushel" verse, and blows on it during the "don't let satan blow it out" verse.

We are starting to have a much busier schedule and I really like it that way.  We go to storytime at the library every tuesday, have started going to "little gym" (like gymboree class) every wednesday (thanks to an early Christmas gift from deedee and grandy!), and have lots of park visits and play dates with friends. Little Gym has turned her in to quite a monkey...she can now climb up onto our couch and has become much more adventurous and aggressive when climbing on things. She doesn't have much fear.

Laila is really starting to develop an imagination and is doing a lot more independent play. She is still a Mama's girl and can be very clingy when she wants to be, but she can also be very independent and play by herself. It's really fun to watch her imagination run wild as she holds her baby or feeds her Elmo doll, or talks on her phone.

I have lots of videos of her playing around and will get to posting them soon, I hope.
